The De Buyer Mineral B frying pan gives you great cooking results every day – whether you use it to sear steaks or make a weekend fry up.

De Buyer’s Mineral B range of iron pans are coated with natural beeswax. This provides protection against rust. The beeswax also gives Mineral B pans enhanced non-stick properties on the first use compared to other iron pans.

The frying pan has a ‘lyonnaise’ profile – this means there’s no sharp, straight edges around the rim, so food slides easily from pan to plate.

This Mineral B frying pan comes in two sizes: 20cm and 24cm in diameter with a 20cm handle. The 20cm pan has a 14cm base and the 24cm pan has a 17.5cm base. It is suitable for all cooking surfaces including induction.

The metal handle can become hot when cooking. Therefore, you may wish to consider purchasing the compatible glove handle to protect your hands.

SEASONING INSTRUCTIONS

The De Buyer Mineral B frying pan requires proper seasoning to keep it in top condition. Before the first use, use hot water and a soft sponge to remove the beeswax coating. Then season the pan – pour in just enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan and bring to a high temperature. When a smoky-haze appears remove it from the heat and wipe well with kitchen towel. Now the pan is ready to use.

Always ensure there is enough oil or natural fat (e.g. butter, lard) in the pan when using, then deglaze with hot water and wipe with a paper towel after use. If the pan needs washing, ensure it is completely dried and lightly-oiled before storing. Follow these steps and your pan will build up a dark patina that increases the pan’s non-stick properties. The more you use it, the more non-stick it will become.

Please note: due to the manufacturing process there may be scratches on the inner surface of the pan. This does not affect the quality of the product and will disappear with proper seasoning over time.

All De Buyer Pans have a convex shape to the base of 1-2%. This stabilises the pan during the heating process and prevents the pan from potential warping.
