This prized French pepper is neither a pepper nor a berry – it’s actually the bud of the blackcurrant which is harvested before the fruit is formed.

On the savoury side, blackcurrant pepper pairs well with chicken, duck and pâté. Try adding a pinch to a Kir Royale to give the classic aperitif a unique, spicy twist.
